Canadian citizen visa/taxesIf you are traveling on a Canadian passport, there is a visa/tax payable on arrival in Colombia. The cost is variable, so you should check with the relevant authorities before booking. This is paid in Colombian pesos or USD, so make sure you have extra cash before you leave Panama. No paperwork is required in advance and the captain will be able to assist you. This tax is a direct response to a similar fee that Colombian tourists must pay when entering Canada.
Passports
TAll standard immigration costs and agent fees are included in the advertised price The captain will collect your passports, either when you board the ship in San Blas, or at a prearranged departure briefing if you depart from Puerto Lindo or Portobelo. The Panamanian immigration service has a small office located on El Porvenir Island in San Blas. All paperwork is filled out by the captain and it is highly unlikely that he will be asked to meet with the officers. The captain will then store all passenger passports along with the relevant departure documents in a secure location on the ship. This is standard procedure and nothing to worry about. Upon arrival in Cartagena, the captain will meet with an agent specially tasked with processing the paperwork at the local immigration office. Passengers will remain on board the ship until it returns with newly stamped documents.
